Mission

Dream it! Believe it! Achieve it!

Vision

At FISD we guide students to success by providing rigorous learning experiences in a safe school climate supported by a partnership of students, parents, community members, staff and administrators.

Beliefs:

-All students are unique and can learn.

-We create and maintain a rich and rigorous curriculum.

-We believe it is important to develop strong character.

-We develop students’ critical thinking skills, problem solving skills and real world applications.

-We believe every person deserves respect and a safe learning environment.

-We prepare students to become contributing members of society.

-We believe a committed, high quality staff is necessary for continued student success.

March begins the count down for the school year!  Three months left and so very much to do!  The juniors took the ACT the 3rd.  Our boys are in the High School Regional Tournament at Murray State.  Seniors are finalizing college applications and scholarships.  The administration is preparing for transition nights for upcoming 6th grade, 9th grade and seniors along with other events of the season.

The 2015-16 Handbook Committee will meet Monday March 9 at 3:00 in the HS library.  All students, parents, and community members are welcome to attend for ideas and input.

School will be in session on March 12 and 13th due to missing school because of the snow in February.  An update on making up the other three days will occur after the Board of Education meeting on March 10

The junior will be attending the play The Great Gatsby on March 12 at the Carson Center in Paducah.

We are hosting an ILP night on March 12 and a “Real World Program” for juniors on March 13.  See below for more information.

Parent/Teacher Conference will be Tuesday March 17 beginning at 3:00.  Teachers will be at school until 6:00.  Please make plans to attend to pick up report cards and visit your child’s teachers.

The high school will have a school wide On-Demand practice writing on March 27.  This is for preparation for K-PREP testing in May.

End Of Course (EOC) exams will be given during the week of April 27-May 1.  These exams will be given in the areas of English II, Algebra II, Biology, and U.S. History.

We want every student who enters the doors at FISD to be proud to be part of the school community.  We offer a wide variety of coursework and programs, so that each and every student can find his or her place.  The expectation is high!  We will work hard to teach each child how to create a positive learning environment – and we expect each student to work to help us create a great school.  We expect every student to be kind to others, be respectful of their elders, follow basic rules, and to do their very best every day.
