Welcome back to school after a well-deserved break! It is again time to buckle down and get to work. January starts off with basketball and Academic Meets for the Middle School and the High School.
There will be an early release day on the 16th for teacher in-service. There will also be no school on the 19th for observation of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.
All freshmen will be participating in the Truth and Consequences Program. Fulton County will be hosting the program this year. Parents of freshmen students are urged to participate.
The Middle School District Basketball Tournament will begin January 26, hosted by Fulton County this year. There are only six more Middle School games left. Come on out and support our Middle School basketball teams as they begin to finish up their season. As everyone gets back into a routine, it is important to remember that we all are here for education. Power comes from knowledge. Knowledge comes from education. Education requires reading, writing, arithmetic, and studying.
As the New Year begins, Mrs. Rose will be meeting with seniors helping to preparing FAFSA worksheets for college. It is time to begin thinking about what you really want to do and/or where you want to go to college. Think about KEES money; completing your ILP for your resume; getting scholarships completed; getting references from your teachers. It will be a busy time and go by very fast. And for underclassmen, you need to also think about KEES money for college; your GPA. And for those who will go into the military or directly to the work force, these things are still very important.
And as the semester goes on, remember the GROWL tickets that you can get; rewards for no tardies and/or no referrals. Be listening for the drawings…..
PLEASE NOTE: THE SOPHOMORE CLASS CHILI SUPPER WILL BE HELD ON FRIDAY FEBRUARY 13 (NOT JANUARY 13) BETWEEN THE HOURS OF 4 AND 7. PLEASE MAKE PLANS TO SUPPORT THE SOPHOMORE CLASS THEN ATTEND THE FULTON CITY VS FULTON COUNTY HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL GAME.
We want every student who enters the doors at FISD to be proud to be part of the school community. We offer a wide variety of coursework and programs, so that each and every student can find his or her place. The expectation is high! We will work hard to teach each child how to create a positive learning environment – and we expect each student to work to help us create a great school. We expect every student to be kind to others, be respectful of their elders, follow basic rules, and to do their very best every day.
